Yesterday I shot interiors of a beautiful house in the Bay for a real estate listing. In a lot of houses the view really doesn’t matter. You may see the house next door or the street. In this case, the house’s proximity to the water is a major selling feature, so its important that people see it. Below you can see a shot of the living room. On the left you can see the basic exposure right out of camera (where the view is totally blown out) on the right, you can see the final image where I used other exposures and some lighting tricks to bring back the view. Helping people see the view from the window and what things look like inside is one of the most compelling reasons to hire a professional photographer for listings when a house has a view that sells.
